Terms of service

Last updated: 28 May 2026. Mostly common sense. The boring bits matter when something goes wrong.

1. The service

Addis CashMap is a directory of mobile-money agents in Ethiopia. It helps you find agents and contact them directly. We are not a bank, a payments operator, or an agent ourselves. We do not move money. We do not hold deposits. We do not guarantee that any agent listed will be available, have cash, or accept your transaction.

2. Eligibility

You may use the public search if you are at least 18 years old or have a parent or guardian's permission. Admin and verifier accounts are issued only to people we have explicitly invited.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape the listings at a volume that interferes with the service for others,
  • harass, defame, or impersonate any listed agent,
  • upload or submit false verification or cash-availability reports,
  • attempt to bypass authentication or access data you are not authorised to see,
  • use the service to facilitate any illegal activity under Ethiopian law.

4. Agent listings — accuracy disclaimer

We work hard to keep listings accurate. Some are verified by direct calls to the agent; others are inferred from third-party data sources and may contain errors. We mark verification status clearly on every listing. Acting on a listing is your decision; we are not liable for losses arising from inaccurate or out-of-date information.

5. Transactions are between you and the agent

When you call or visit a listed agent, the transaction is strictly between you and that agent under the rules of the underlying provider (Telebirr, CBE Birr, M-Pesa, etc.). Addis CashMap is not a party to that transaction and assumes no responsibility for it. Disputes should be raised with the relevant provider's customer-care line.

6. Intellectual property

The Addis CashMap name, logo, design, and software code are our intellectual property. The underlying agent data is sourced from public records and our own verification work. You may not use our trademarks without our written permission.

7. Service availability

We aim for high uptime but do not promise any specific service-level commitment. We may suspend the service for maintenance, security incidents, or because we run out of coffee at 2am.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Ethiopian law, Addis CashMap is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim — which, for end users, is zero.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate any admin or verifier account if we believe these terms have been breached. End users can stop using the service at any time, no notice required.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Any dispute that we cannot resolve amicably will be heard in the competent courts of Addis Ababa.
